RF Hunt is a journalist, columnist and occasional artist.

She is interested in disability, inequality, mental health and housing. The mental health needs of those with SCI is of particular concern.

Before turning to writing (and art), Ruth worked in the voluntary, statutory and charitable sectors, in welfare rights, mental health and with adults who had complex needs.

Since then, Ruth has had articles in The Guardian, Inside Housing, Neuro Rehab Times, Forward magazine, The Morning Star and more. She is the regular mental health columnist for the Spinal Injuries Association magazine, Forward.

She is a member of The Society of Authors and NUJ. In 2015 her first novel was released, The Single Feather.

With serious SCI from 1989, Ruth has many challenges, not least dealing with secondary complications - osteoporosis, kyphosis and persistent pressure sores.

But she endeavours to find the positives, one being shining a light on what could be changed to improve the life of those with complex needs.
